Led by Mosaic Ventures with participation from Moonfire, the ex-Google team is expanding to the US to ensure that as AI writes the world’s code, autonomous agents are there to test and verify it.
ZURICH, Switzerland - October 9th, 2026 - Klarent, an autonomous software testing platform, today announced it has raised $8 million in seed funding to fuel its expansion into the United States following strong growth across Europe. The round is led by Mosaic Ventures, with participation from Moonfire Ventures and a group of prominent angel investors including Jürgen Galler (former Google Director), Harris Barton and AngelInvest Ventures, among others.
The company was founded by two former senior Google engineers: Asheem Panakkat (CEO) and Momchil Ivanov (CTO). Working on the Lens and Shopping products at Google, they anticipated two shifts at once: large language models would become genuinely capable, and the volume of software shipped was about to skyrocket. What drew them in was the alignment problem: as coding agents began writing more and more code, how do you keep them in check and make sure they are doing the right thing?
This is a bet on where software is heading. Quality assurance (QA) is already a vast industry, and a heavily outsourced labour market. Human capacity is becoming a bottleneck. The more code AI writes, the more code there is to test - and the higher the stakes of getting verification right.
The Problem: Brittle, Fragmented, and Expensive QA
Traditional QA is collapsing under the weight of AI-generated code. Manual testing is too slow, legacy automation is too brittle across platforms, and first-generation AI tools are too unpredictable - burning through tokens and budget without delivering reliability.
The Solution: Deterministic Autonomy
Klarent introduces autonomous agents that use LLMs only to author and adapt deterministic test code. This “deterministic” approach ensures that tests run reliably and repeatably, delivering the speed of AI with the precision and cost-efficiency of production engineering. The platform is backed by a human-in-the-loop service that verifies every result, so customers only ever pay for outcomes.
“At Google, Momo and I could see two things coming at once: LLMs were getting better fast, and the amount of software being created was about to explode. The question that wouldn’t leave us was the feedback loop. How do you keep these coding agents honest? We began by building evals for LLMs and quickly realized the bigger opportunity was QA itself. As AI writes more of the world’s code, testing stops being a cost center and becomes the thing that determines whether any of that code can be trusted.” - Asheem Panakkat, Co-founder and CEO, Klarent AI
The approach has earned rapid traction across Europe, with customers spanning multiple industries - including JD Sports in e-commerce, NZZ in media, and Sixt in travel and mobility. At JD Sports, the company’s agents run workflows that jump across multiple systems in the e-commerce pipeline - automation the retailer found even its in-house SDET (software development engineer in test) teams could not replicate. Klarent is also expanding into the demanding world of financial services, helping leading banks and insurance companies test their applications.
“With AI, code generation is scaling faster than our ability to test it, so QA will become the key bottleneck. Asheem and Momo saw this at Google before most of the industry did. What convinced us was their insistence on determinism - using AI to write tests, not to run them - which is why enterprises are trusting Klarent in production. We’re delighted to back the team as they expand to the US.” - Chandar Lal, Partner, Mosaic Ventures.
With the new funding, Klarent will establish its presence in the United States - its primary focus for the round - building on the momentum it has built with European enterprises. The company will also continue to grow its engineering team, and deepen its cross-platform product across web and mobile.
